The saddest fact about this song was that it was meant as a riposte to the Falklands War….still as relevant today with young lives being lost in Iraq/Afghanistan
Under the flag was about the Falklands war. For all of you signing up: “the contract states quite fundamentally: the undersigned (that’s you) lay your life on the line.”
The great thing is that at the time, there was no real label for what these innovators were doing.
Today, it would be called early “electropop-darkwave”.
Certainly some similarities in the drum sound – the winning TR-808+Arp2600+Simmons SDS V combination, if I’m not mistaken ? Sounds great and a superb track, this.

That seems pretty close, sort of close to Wire’s 80’s sound, but with more electronic flavor I guess.
